All Ford vehicles are built to be durable, which is true whether you opt for a family-oriented SUV or a work-ready pickup truck. In addition, they provide enhanced peace of mind thanks to the extensive Ford warranty. This guide from Lester Glenn Ford looks at the coverage you will get under this warranty.

Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty

Every new Ford model comes with a Limited Warranty, also referred to as a bumper-to-bumper warranty. This covers a whole host of parts, including mechanical components like the engine, transmission, steering, and suspension. In addition, it protects electrical systems, including the stereo, sensors, and computer systems. This warranty is good for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Powertrain Warranty

Along with that warranty, your new Ford vehicle will have powertrain coverage. This provides more in-depth safeguards for the engine, transmission, and drivetrain, including:

  • Cylinder block
  • Oil pump
  • Timing components
  • Seals
  • Gaskets
  • Axles
  • Driveshafts

The Powertrain Warranty stays in effect for up to five years or 60,000 miles. Plus, both this warranty and the Limited Warranty are fully transferable to other owners.

Extended Warranty Plans

Once those warranties expire, you can keep the coverage going. Ford offers a variety of extended warranties that cover just the basics to those that protect up to 1,000 components. That latter warranty—called PremiumCare—is good for up to 10 years or 175,000 miles.
