Are you excited that the Ford Bronco is back? We certainly are. This rugged SUV has been sorely missing from Ford’s lineup for decades.

And while the new model has tons of great amenities, like fantastic off-road capability, it also has terrific towing ability. If you plan to put your Ford Bronco to work, here’s what to expect:

Power- and Drivetrain

The 2021 Ford Bronco comes with one of two engine choices. The base is a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder that produces 275 horsepower and 315 lb-ft of torque. With premium gas, those numbers climb to 300 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque.

The other engine is a turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 that puts out 315 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. Those numbers increase to 330 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque with premium gas. A seven-speed manual transmission is standard, but a 10-speed automatic is available with the smaller engine, and it’s standard with the V6. Four-wheel drive is standard.

Towing Ability

Whichever engine you choose with your Ford Bronco, when you equip it with the Class II Trailer Tow Package, you will be able to tow up to 3,500 pounds. This will let you pull a trailer or small camper.

And if you’ll need to fill your SUV with stuff, you’ll be glad to know that it has a maximum payload of 1,370 pounds.
