Most people don’t set out to damage their car. However, despite their best efforts, scratches and dents can happen. These issues may not be serious enough cause a breakdown, but they can be a little difficult to look past. At Lester Glenn Ford, the home for Ford trucks in Ocean Township, NJ, we are here to make sure when people look at your vehicle, they see a 2018 Ford F-150 and not a 2018 Ford F-150 with a scratch on it.

The solution to car paint scratches are not one size fits all. Some scratches require very little to fix, while others can be more labor intensive.

It all depends on how deep or shallow the scratch goes. There’s an effectively invisible layer on top of your cars paint that can be scratched. When this happens, it’s called a clear coat scratch. If you look hard enough you might be able to see it, but it’s as easy to fix as a wipe of the hand.

Clear coat scratches are the last freebies. If the scratch is any deeper, the paint is affected and you’ll have to bring your vehicle in for real repairs. On the bright side, all this will entail is a touch up of paint from our Ford parts department.

If the scratch makes it past the paint, it becomes more than just an issue of covering it up with paint. With a scratch this deep, something will have to replace the primer and paint layers that have been scratched away so that the surface is level for painting.

If you notice any scratches on your vehicle, don’t hesitate to pay us a visit here at Lester Glenn Ford. We can determine the severity of the damage and apply the appropriate solution to get you back on the road as soon as possible.
